KfW bank issues digital bonds on Blockchain. A first big step on the part of a conventional bank that I heard of. "The issue was carried out by Clearstream on Deutsche Börse’s D7 digital post-trade platform. The transaction involves a bond with a volume of EUR 20 million, a term of two years and a coupon of 2.381%. Today I had the honour to join - among esteemed leaders and bankers - a deep dive session at the #BankingSummit2024 in Vienna. Together with Stephan Strasser UniCredit Bank Austria AG I talked about the green transition, portfolio steering, products and approaches. As we could take from the questions of a challenging audience, decarbonization is a highly complex matter, highly dynamic and not as black and white. I stated that reaching targets of the European Green Deal is a shared responsibility. Every part of society, we, the banks, companies, governments must reduce emissions to Net Zero as far as possible. Banks can’t do it on their own. Our climate action: 🌱 a net zero portfolio is our commitment. Credit Suisse, which has been a key player in Swiss banking since 1856, has formally ceased to exist. 🔑 Key Highlights: 🔹 Integration Milestone: UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti emphasized the merger as a significant step in their integration journey, essential for client migration and unlocking cost, capital, funding, and tax benefits. 🔹 Historical Significance: Credit Suisse played a pivotal role in financing Switzerland’s railway network and grew into a global financial powerhouse.
